Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1)

Read from July 27 to December 07, 2016

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I bought this book for two reasons: the gorgeous cover + the intriguing blurb

I really did not know what to expect though. I was on the fence about my “pre-reading” feelings so I decided to check out some of the non-spoiler reviews on Goodreads. Unfortunately, they were mixed and were therefore of no help. I then decided to just go ahead and read it with no feeling whatsover (ha ha).

I’m going to divide my review in to two parts: The things I liked/loved + The things I hated/found annoying

The things I liked/loved

1. The story was very interesting (although there was just something missing for me that I can’t quite put my finger on).
2. I thought Kenji was hilarious! (Please don’t be an antagonist later on)
3. I liked that Juliette had a unique power (Demigod daughter of Hades perhaps? lol)

The things I hated/found annoying

1. The strike-through text. Isn’t this just so annoying when it pops up every now and then
2. The unnecessary repetition of words. They would always be repeated thrice thrice thrice. (See what I did there?)

Overall impression:

I liked the book enough to want to read the rest of the series! I haven’t given up on it yet. The first book of the Vampire Academy series got a 3 star rating from me but I still ended up loving everything in the end. So here’s hoping Unravel Me saves the series. *Fingers crossed*
